Well the “business” growing affects everything around them. Slaver owners could’ve brought them to different countries and on top of that there could’ve also been a lot of illegal trade going on during the time as well. Word carries through fast especially in business so I can imagine African Americans starting to fear for the worst and also start preparing for what could happen. I also believe that during this time they got a lot of harassment specifically for the growing trade and how people were starting to sort of bid on them as a society in public. (not facts tho so i dont know just speculation.)
