And we need to find the lateral surface area ( pretty much area of everything except for the bases.)

We can calculate the lateral surface area by using this formula


la=5ah

where a (on the right hand side) equals the base edge length and h = height

(btw the 5 represents the number of sides)

so the base edge length of the shown figure is 5 and the height is 10

having found this information we plug it into the formula


la=5*5*10\\10*5=50\\50*5=250

so we can conclude that the lateral surface area of the shown pentagonal prism is 250 cm²
