The length is 8 ft.

The width is 2 ft.

Explanation:

A = l*w

l = w + 6

16 = w(w + 6)

16 = w^2 + 6w

w^2 + 6w - 16 = 0

(w + 8)(w - 2) = 0

w = -8ft or 2ft

Since lengths cannot be negative in reality, w = 2ft.

l*2 = 16

l = 8ft
