y= mx + b

With the only importance here is M being the slope and the B being the y-intercept.

We can’t have an exact estimate of the Y intercept so we can use point slope formula which is a build up of y=mx+b or you can just subsitute, I’ll go over both ways.

Point slope solution

Point slope formula is
y-y1 = m(x-x1)

1 does not impact the form, it’s a label.

(x1,y1) is the first coordinate which can also be any LABELED so lets do (4,6).

M represents slope.

To count slope we need to follow the formul
y2-y1 / X2-x1

Now solve.

6-1/ 4- (-2)

5/6 is the slope here.

So plugging everything into point slope formula.

y - 6 = 5/6 ( x - 4)

Solve.
Isolate the equation into y=mx + b

y = 5/6x + 2 2/3 is your final equation.

Slope intercept solution

Well this is just the name.
Plus in everything you know into y=mx + b

We know that the slope (m) is 5/6
(x,y) can be any point on the line so lets use (4,6)
We solve for b (y- intercept)

So…

6 = 5/6 (4) + b
Solve

6= 20/6 +b

2 2/3 = b

Now plug it in normally.

Y= 5/6x + 2 2/3
