Find the midpoint M of the line segment joining the points a=(-8, -7)and B= (-4, -6)

We have to find the coordinates of the midpoint of the line segment joining the points a(-8,-7) and B(-4,-6) , Before going further let's understand the concept first ;

  • The coordinates of the Midpoint let's say it be M of the line segment joining the points
    {\bf{(x_(1),y_(1))}} &
    {\bf{(x_(2),y_(2))}} is given by :-


{\quad \qquad \boxed{\bf{M= \left((x_(1)+x_(2))/(2),(y_(1)+y_(2))/(2)\right)}}}

So , now using the Above Formula which is known as Midpoint formula for the given points we have ;


{:\implies \quad \sf M=\left((-8-4)/(2),(-7-6)/(2)\right)}


{:\implies \quad \sf M=\left((-12)/(2),(-13)/(2)\right)}


{:\implies \quad \bf \therefore \quad \underline{\underline{M=\left(-6,(-13)/(2)\right)}}}
