Answer:

a) x = 70°

b) a = 50°

Explanation:

Part (a)

52° + x° + 58 = 180° (Angles on a straight line add up to 180 degrees.)

x + 110 = 180

Subtract 110 to both sides

x = 180 - 110

x = 70°

Part (b)

a° + a° + a° + 90° + 120° = 360° (Angles at a point add up to 360 degrees)

3a + 210 = 360

Subtract 210 to both sides

3a = 360 - 210

3a = 150

Divide both sides by 3

a = 150 / 3

a = 50°

\rule[225]{225}{2}

Hope this helped!

Answer:

a) x = 70

b) a = 50

Explanation:

a) Angles on a straight line add up to 180°

⇒ 52 + x + 58 = 180

⇒ x = 180 - 52 - 58

⇒ x = 70

b) Angles around a point add up to 360°

⇒ 120 + 90 + a + a + a = 360

⇒ 210 + 3a = 360

⇒ 3a = 360 - 210

⇒ 3a = 150

⇒ a = 150 ÷ 3

⇒ a = 50
