Explanation:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2 (Pythagorean Theorem)

6 is a, 2 is b, and x is c, or the hypotenuse.

Plug in the values

6^2 + 2^2 = x^2

Simplify

36 + 4 = x^2

40 = x^2

Square root both sides

sqrt(40) = x

Explanation:

Pythagorean theorem

a^2+b^2=c^2

2^2+6^2=x^2

4+36=x^2

40=x^2


√(40)=x


2√(10)
=x\\
