Answer:

The present participle is usually formed by adding -ing to the verb. If the verb ends with a letter e, we remove the e before adding -ing. If the verb ends with a consonant, then a vowel, and then another consonant and the stress is on the last syllable, we double the last letter (except the letter "w").
