Answer:

The "area of the shaded shape" is 77 m^2.

Explanation:

The white rectangle on the left of this figure has width 5 m and length (14 - 5 - 2) m, or 7 m. Check: summing up the vertical side lengths on the left of this figure, we get (5 + 7 + 2) m = 14 m, which equals the unbroken 14 m on the right of this figure.

Thus, the area of the white rectangle is 5 m times 7 m, or 35 m^2.

The area of the green rectangle, before the white one is cut out, is

8 m by 14 m, 112 m^2

Find the green area by subtracting the white area (35 m^2) from the uncut green area (112 m^2). We get the net area (green area)

(112 m^2) - (35 m^2) = 77 m^2

The "area of the shaded shape" is 77 m^2.

Answer:

77 Sq m

Explanation:

Area of the shaded shape = Area of the rectangle with dimensions 14 m by 8m - Area of rectangle with dimensions ( 14 - 5 - 2=7) 7m by 5m.

= 14*8 - 7*5

= 112 - 35

= 77 Sq m
