Explanation:

The area of a square is equal to side times side, so a+b=one of the sides of a square so you multiply this by another a+b to get the whole square

Same as the last part but c is equal to one side so we do c*c for the are

The area of a triangle is 1/2*base*height, so we do 1/2*a*b since a is equal to the base of the triangle and b is equal to the height. This is only equal to 1 triangle so we multiply this by 4 since there are 4 triangles in total
