A passenger train leaves a railway station at 12:00 pm and travels 3 hours on the Northbound track. A second passenger train leaves the same railway station at 12:45 pm and travels 2 hour and 15 minutes on the Southbound tracks at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour faster than the first train. At 3:00 pm the two trains were 360 kilometers apart. How fast was each train traveling?

Answer:

63 kilometers per hour for train A and 83 kilometers for train B

Explanation:

Same beginning

  • Train A: 3 hours to North
  • Train B: 2 hours and 15 minutes to South

but train B 20 kilometers per hour faster

15 minutes from 20 kilometers per hours are 5 kilometers

So, train B is 45 kilometers travel more far than train B.

= 360 kilometers - 45 kilometers

= 315 kilometers ÷ 5 hours

= 63 kilometers per hours

Hope it's right><
