Answer:

y - 7 = -5(x + 2)

a = -1

Explanation:

The equation of a line which passes through (x₁, y₁) and with slope of m in point-slope form:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

m = -5

(-2, 7) ⇒ x₁ = -2, y₁ = 7

y - 7 = -5(x - (-2))

y - 7 = -5(x + 2)

(a, 2) ⇒ 2 - 7 = -5(a + 2)

-5 = -5a - 10

5a = 5 - 10

5a = -5

a = -1
