To assist your friend you should be supportive and kind and just be apart of his support system, you could also offer to help me with simple things such as making him food or offering him a lift to school in the mornings, you can also offer to help him with any school work and take some of the stress of his shoulders.
To resolve his situation he can go to his teacher and explain what is happening and the teacher can help strategies ways to make sure he isn’t late in the mornings.
