Explanation:

Area of a circle = (pi)(r^2)

if the diameter is 7, the radius is 3.5

A = 3.14 x 3.5

A = 10.99 cm^2 for one cookie

10.99 x 12 for a dozen = 131.88 cm^2

converting cm to inches, you divide by 2.54

131.88/2.54 = 51.92 square inches.
