Explanation:

2x + y = 5 ← given line

2x + y = C ← any parallel line

The line passing through (0, 1), therefore:

2×0 + 1 = C

C = 1

2x + y = 1 ← the parallel line that passes through (0, 1)

To change it to slope-intercept form we just need to subtract 2x from both sides:
