Your teacher gives you a graph of the parent function y = x^2 and the graph of another function. You notice that the new function has been compressed horizontally by a factor of 5, reflected over the x-axis, and translated down 3.5 units. What is the equation for the new function?

A. y = 5x^2 + 3.5
B. y = −(5x)^2 − 3.5
C. y = 5x^2 − 3.5
D. y = −(5x)^2 + 3.5

It’s either B or C if it’s being translated to the right it’s B but if it’s being translated to the left it’s C
