start with determining the slope ((-9 - (-2))/(5 - 3) = -7/2. Now use the point slope formula y - y1 = m(x - x1). y - (-2) = -7/2(x - 3). Distribute the -7/2, y + 2= -7/2x + 21/2. Combine like terms y = -7/2x + 17/2. You can also write this as y = -3.5x + 8.5
