A zoo keeper was in charge of determining the population of meerkats at the zoo. He observed the meerkats and noted 8 of them and the special markings are on their face. The next day he went back out and observed the meerkats again. Out of the 20 that he saw, 4 of them were the same meerkats that he saw yesterday. How many meerkats can he assume are living at the zoo?

Answer:

16

Explanation:

The zoo-keeper saw 8 special meerkats the day before and then only saw 4 special meerkats out of 20 the day after so 4 - 20 = 16.
