Mars's climate has evolved from an early, warm, wet environment to its current state as a cold, dry planet with a thin atmosphere; studying Mars's climate can shed light on the evolution, and possibly future, of Earth's own climate. (Don’t know if that answered your question but I how it helped in some way) :)
