Some girls were playing tag on a playground. The number of girls was three less than twice the number of boys. If there are 7 girls, how many boys were playing tag?

Let,

The no. of boys be = x

So,

No. of girls are = 2x - 3

As given,

No. of girls on the playground playing tag were = 7

Therefore,

By the problem,

=> 2x - 3 = 7

• [On adding 3 on both sides]

=> 2x - 3 + 3 = 7 + 3

• [On simplification]

=> 2x = 10

• [On dividing both sides with 2]

`= > (2x)/(2) = (10)/(2)`

• [On simplification]

=> x = 5
