The rules that were created for the discussion were that you can't interrupt when the teacher and student are talking and that when someone else is up to talk don't be loud, and after you finish your test you are done for the day.

Yes the rules were followed very well.

How did your own background knowledge, experiences, values, or beliefs affect?

Differing values, beliefs and personal experiences between people can affect the way they feel around one another and can lead to conflict, however it is important to respect the views of others and try not to let it interfere with working practice.
