SOLUTION OF Q4

A) x + 2y = 3 , 5x - 4y = 8

=) x = 3 - 2y

Substituting x = 3 - 2y in 5x - 4y = 8, we get;

=) 5 (3-2y) - 4y = 8

=) 15 - 10y - 4y = 8

=) -14y = 8 - 15

=) y = - 7/ -14

=) y = 1/2

Now, by putting y = 1/2 in x + 2y = 3, we get;

=) x + 2(1/2) = 3

=) x + 1 = 3

=) x = 3 - 1

=) x = 2

The value of x is 2 and y is 1/2.

C) 2m + n = 2 , 3m - 2n = 3

=) n = 2 - 2m

Substituting n = 2 - 2m in 3m - 2n = 3, we get;

=) 3m - 2 (2-2m) = 3

=) 3m - 4 + 4m = 3

=) 7m = 3+ 4

=) m = 7/7

=) m = 1

Now, by putting m = 1 in 2m + n = 2, we get;

=) 2(1) + n = 2

=) 2 + n = 2

=) n = 2-2

=) n = 0

the value of m is 1 and n is 0.
