Answer:

(0, 2 ) and k = 8.5

Explanation:

(a)

let x = 0 in the equation and evaluate for y

y - 0 = 2

y = 2

y - 3x = 2 crosses the y- axis at (0, 2 )

(b)

Given y = 2x + c ( where c is the y- intercept and c = - 5 )

Given (k, 12 ) lies on the line then substitute y = 12, x = k into the equation

12 = 2k - 5 ( add 5 to both sides )

17 = 2k ( divide both sides by 2 )

8.5 = k
