Your friend is looking at laptops for college, and is comparing the different

screen sizes. Use the diagram and formula below to find the height of the
laptop screen. Round your answer to the tenths place.
d = √w²+
d= 13.3in
h
w = 11.3
A. h = 7.0 inches
B. h = 12.9 inches
C. h = 10.7 inches

Given:

d = 13.3\ in

w = 11.3\ in

d=√(w^2+h^2)

To find:

The value of h.

Solution:

We have,

d=√(w^2+h^2)

Substituting
d = 13.3, w = 11.3, we get

13.3=√(11.3^2+h^2)

Taking square on both sides.

176.89=127.69+h^2

176.89-127.69=h^2

49.2=h^2

Taking square root on both sides, we get

\pm 7.01427=h

h\approx \pm 7

Height cannot be negative so
h=7\ in.

Therefore, the correct option is A.
