Hey there!

5 + 14a = 9a - 5

WORKING OUT the LEFT SIDE

5 + 14a
= 5 + 14(-2)
= 5 - 28

= -23

WORKING OUT the RIGHT SIDE
9a - 5

= 9(-2) - 5

= -18 - 5

= -23

SOLVING FOR the OVERALL ANSWER
-23 = -23

This makes your statement [true]. Because, both sets of equations are equivalent to each other, just substitute “-2” for your ‘a-value’ in your given equation to make it easier to solve or tackle the problem down.

Good luck on your assignment & enjoy your day!
