A circular flower bed is 22 m in diameter and has a circular sidewalk around it that is 3 m wide. Find the area of the sidewalk in square meters. Use 3.14 for pi.

Explanation:

Given data

Dimeter of flower bed= 22m

Diameter of side walk= 3m

Area of the sidewalk

=Area of flower bed - Area of sidewalk

=πR^2- πr^2

= 3.14*22^2- 3.14*3^2

= 3.14*484-3.14*9

=1520.728-28.278

=1492.45

Hence the area of the sidewalk is

1492.45m^2
