Chris wants to create a rectangular rose garden in a yard. He has 48 meters of garden fencing to go around the garden and he has to use it all. Pick two different ways in which he could construct the garden.

The boundary gives the perimeter . Using the formula of the perimeter for a rectangle where L= length and B= breadth

P = 2(L+B)

48= 2(L+B)

24= (L+B)

The length must be longer than the breadth in the rectangle so we can obtain the sum of 24 in such a way that one side is longer than the other.

24= 16+8

or 24= 14+10

where the length can be 16 or 14 and breadth can be 8 or 10 .

If the length is kept 16 or 14 and the breadth 8 or 10 the outer fencing can be 48 meters.
