A farmer recently sold a large plot of land. The sale decreased his total acreage by 10%.

Lett be the original acreage. Find two equivalent expressions that will give the new acreage.​

Answer: t - 0.1t and 0.9t

Explanation:

Let the original acreage be represented by t.

Since there was a sale which ended up reducing the acreage by 10%, the expression for the new acreage will be:

= t - (10% × t)

= t - (0.1 × t)

= t - 0.1t

= 0.9t

Therefore, the equivalent expressions will be "t - 0.1t" and 0.9t
