If a student earned a 96% on a test when answering 72 questions correctly, assuming all the questions are worth the same amount of points, how many questions were on the test? Round to the nearest whole number if necessary.

So we know 96% 72 and 100% which is the end number of the problem. We don't know what the total number of questions is. That's x

96% = 72

100% = x Cross Multiply

96x = 72*100 Divide by 96

x = 72*100 / 96

x = .75 * 100

x = 75 questions were on the test. Rather surprising results.
