The two angles are vertical angles, which mean they are the same.

3y + 53 = 7y -55

Add 55 to both sides:

3y + 108 = 7y

Subtract 3y from both sides:

108 = 4y

Divide both sides by 4:

y = 27

Answer: y = 27
