Answer:

An exponent refers to the number of times a number is multiplied by itself. For example 2 to the 3rd.It means 2*2*2=8.

2 to the third is not the same as 2*3=6

5^(2) = 25

not 5x2

5x5

the numeber times the number itself by how many times the exponet says.
