Total number of people is 46
8 more small cats than large cats(8+y=x)
2x+4y=46
x=8+y
2(8+y)+4y=46
16+2y+4y=46
6y=46-16
6y=30
y=30/6
y=5 aka 5 large cars

x=8+y
x=8+5
x=13 aka 13 small cars

2•13+4•5=26+20=46 seats for everyone
