A Taxi cab costs $1.50 for the first mile and $0.75 for each additional mile. Which equation could be solved to find how many miles you can travel for $10, given that “x” is the number of additional miles?

Answer:

x=11.333333

Explanation:

1.5+.75x=10

subtract 1.5 from both sides.

1.5+.75x-1.5=10-1.5

.75x=8.5

divide .75 on both sides

.75x.75=x

8.5/.75=11.333333
