In your professional opinion, how would you describe how Lincoln’s views on slavery changed from the beginning of the Civil War to the end of the Civil War?

Answer:

As president, Lincoln knew that the Union was divided over the issue of slavery. Although he was a republican, Lincoln knew that the South would despise him if he were to end slavery. The North, however, had already had freed slaves and their way of life was working out okay. So, while Lincoln did not have a negative opinion at the beginning of the war, he emancipated slaves by the end of it.
