Where do the graphs of y = 4x - 3 and y = 9x - 13 intersect?

y = 4x - 3 → (1)

y = 9x - 13 → (2)

Substitute y = 9x - 13 into (1)

9x - 13 = 4x - 3 ( subtract 4x from both sides )

5x - 13 = - 3 ( add 13 to both sides )

5x = 10 ( divide both sides by 5 )

x = 2

Substitute x = 2 into either of the 2 equations and solve for y

Substituting into (1)

y = 4(2) - 3 = 8 - 3 = 5

point of intersection = (2, 5 )
