From the diagram, it is indicated;

AD = DB = 3t,

AC = 7t + 6

CE = EB = 4t

Perimeter = 48 units

Perimeter = AD + DB + AC + CE + EB

Plug in the values

48 = 3t + 3t + 7t + 6 + 4t + 4t

Add like terms

48 = 21x + 6

48 - 6 = 21x + 6 - 6

42 = 21x

42/21 = 21x/21

2 = x

x = 2
