Given :-

  • Mass of the toy = 16g
  • initial speed = 8m/s

To Find:-

  • Maximum height of the ball .

Solution:-

As we know the when the ball reaches its maximum height its final velocity becomes 0 . Hence on using the Third equation of motion namely,

→ 2as = v² - u²

→ 2*(-10m/s²)* h = 0² -(8m/s²)

→ 20h = 64m

→ h = 64m/20

h = 3.2m

Hence the maximum height reached is 3.2m .

Note :-

Here I have taken the upward direction as positive so the value of acceleration due to gravity becomes negative. Negative sign just has a interpretation in physics.

Also you can just substitute the value in the formula given below to find the maximum height when the initial speed with which the ball was thrown is given.

h = u²/2g .

Also the problem has nothing to do with the mass of the ball .
