Jane needs to buy mulch to spread on her garden that has a radius of 5 feet. How much mulch does she need?

Is this area or circumference?

This mulch would cover the circular area, and not just placed on the outside. Therefore: it's area. Now, to calculate how much you'd need

Area of a circle is Pi*r^2

Multiply r (the radius) by itself to get 25, then multiply pi. Since 25pi looks like a simpler answer than 78.5398163, that's what I'd stick with for the answer, unless they say otherwise...
