A rectangle has an area of 150 square units. The width of the rectangle is 10 units and its

length is x units longer than its width.
Solve the equation 150 = 10(x + 10) to find the value of x.

150 = 10(x+10)
150 = (10x+100)
150 = 10x+100
move 100 to the other side, becomes negative
-100+150 =10x
50=10x
x=5
