What is wrong with zalika's argument?

If i throw two dice and add the scores together i can get any total from 2 to 12 Thats 11 different numbers so the probability of gettinv a total of 3 is 1/11

Answer:

  • See below

Explanation:

If you throw two dice then the number of options is:

  • 6*6 = 36 as each dice has 6 sides

Out of 36 options the following combination gives the sum of 3:

  • 1 + 2 = 3 or
  • 2 + 1 = 3

So we have 2 possibilities out of 36:

  • P(3) = 2/36 = 1/18

Correct answer should be 1/18 but not 1/11
