Explanation:

You would need to add all of them into one equation. 39.50 + 4 1/4 + 2 3/4 - 5 + 3 1/2 - 2 1/4

Add 39.50 + 4 1/4 + 2 3/4 + 3 1/2 = 50

Add 5 + 2 1/4 = 7.25

Subtract 50 - 7.25 = 42.75
