Why is the definition "a verb is an action word" inadequate

Because the definition before is too simple. The proper definition to give would be “a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence.”

Answer:

Because they want you to be more specific.

Step-by-step explanation:

You could say a verb is when a noun is active and moving.

Hope this helps!
