Hello there! :)

Answer:

(Option B.) The new chromosomes are different but share similarities with the parent chromosomes.

Step-by-step explanation:

To answer this question we need to remember a bit of the meiotic process, in this case, chromosomes recombine during meiosis so when the four haploid daughter cells complete their division the genetic load is similar to the parent but it has its own unique combination. This information is completed when both gametes join forming a diploid zygote with genetic information similar to parents but different, therefore we can say that the correct answer is B.

Hope this helps! :)

Answer:

B.) The new chromosomes are different but share similarities with the parent chromosomes.

Step-by-step explanation:

When crossing over takes place within a cell, two of the parents DNA gets mixed together in the process, thus forming an unidentical chromosome. However, this creates genetic variation which does form a new and completely different chromosome, but it carries some similarities with the parents originally. For instance, take green eyes for example. A mother may have green eyes and the father may have brown eyes. A sibling is born with hazel eyes (mixture of brown and green). Whereas one is born with green eyes. This proves the statement that the trait can be identical or alike to the parent or it can be a combination of the two chromosomes.
