Explanation:

→ Rearrange x - y = -3 to make y the subject

-y = - x - 3 so y = x + 3

→ Substitute into 2x + y = -3

2x + x + 3 = -3

→ Simplify

3x + 3 = -3

→ Minus 3 from both sides

3x = -6

→ Divide both sides by 3

x = -2

→ Substitute x value into first equation

-4 + y = -3

→ Add -4 to both sides

y = 1
