The length of a rectangle is three times its width. If the area of the rectangle is 75 yd2 , find its perimeter.

Explanation:

Let x = width, then 3x = length, Area = l x w so,

(3x)(x) = 75

3x2 = 75

x = 5 = width, length = 15

Perimeter = 2l +2w = 10 + 30 = 40
