Answer:

(6)/(5)

Explanation:

let the denominator of the original fraction be x, then

(x-2)/(x) ← original fraction

Then

(2(x-2))/(x+5) ← new fraction

The product of original and reciprocal of new is

(x-2)/(x) ×
(x+5)/(2(x-2)) ← cancel (x - 2)

=
(x+5)/(2x) =
(1)/(4) ( cross- multiply )

4(x + 5) = 2x

4x + 20 = 2x ( subtract 2x from both sides )

2x + 20 = 0 ( subtract 20 from both sides )

2x = - 20 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = - 10

Then original fraction

(x-2)/(x) =
(-12)/(-10) =
(6)/(5)
