Suppose 8x+16 ice cream cones were sold on Saturday and 7x-9 cones were sold on Sunday. What is the total number of ice cream cones sold? Write an expression and then simplify it.

Total number of ice-creams sold / –

= No of ice-creams sold on Saturday + No of ice-creams sold on Sunday

= (8x + 16) + (7x – 9)

= 8x + 16 + 7x – 9

= 8x + 7x + 16 – 9
