Multiplication is the same as repeated addition.

So, let us take an example for a better understanding :

(2)/(3) * 4

Looks more like this :

(2)/(3)+(2)/(3) +(2)/(3) = (2)/(3) =(8)/(3)

[ If you add them up, we will get the same answer if we multiply it ]

Same as
(2)/(3) *(4)/(1) =(8)/(3)

On the other hand if you have whole numbers that you need to solve like
3 * 4this means that
3 is added
4 times

3 + 3+ 3+ 3 = 12

Which would be the same thing as

3 * 4 = 12
