. Mycologists report that fungi are, by far, the largest individual organisms on the planet (a honey fungus in Oregon has been documented at more than 3 miles across), yet I’ve never seen a fungus larger than a basketball with my own eyes. How can this be? Where are these fungi living, and why can’t most people see them?

Answer:

Most people have seen a fungus/fungi. Mushrooms are the "fruit" of fungi.

Step-by-step explanation:

The earth is full of fungi, that is why when animals excrete waste or leaves fall every autumn, they disappear in a few months. Fungi feed on them and return them to the soil as nutrients. Molds and mushrooms are fungi. But most fungi live underground because they work as decomposers and give nutrients to nearby plants or the soil. Similar to earth worms.
