Answer:

slope = 0

y-intercept = 17

Explanation:

Let x = age of Eamon in years

Let y = number of freckles

Create 2 ordered pairs from the information given:

17 freckles at birth = (0, 17)

17 freckles at 10 years old = (10, 17)

Slope formula:
m=\frac{\textsf{change in} \ y}{\textsf{change in} \ x}

Therefore,
m=(17-17)/(10-0)=0

So the slope is zero

y-intercept is where the line crosses the y-axis, so when x = 0.

We already know that y = 17 when x = 0, therefore the y-intercept is 17.

Therefore, the final equation for the line is: y = 17

Answer:

slope= 0

y- intercept= (0, 17)

Explanation:

Assuming that his age is the independent variable and the number of freckles is the dependent variable, the graph plotted is a number of freckles vs age graph.

At birth

Age= 0 years old

Number of freckles= 17

Point to be plotted is (0, 17)

10 years old

Age= 10 years old

Number of freckles= 17

Point to be plotted is (10, 17)

After plotting the two points (see attached graph), you would notice that the line joining these two points is a horizontal line. Horizontal lines have a slope of zero. This can also be found using the formula, slope= rise/ run.

The y-intercept is the point at which the graph cuts through the y-axis and occurs at x= 0. Thus, the y-intercept occurs at (0, 17) or y= 17.
